Special gifts from a great bunch of knitters
A GROUP of knitters in Grays have come to the rescue of a baby unit at a London hospital.
The NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at St Mary's Hospital has been in short supply of baby blankets where play and activity support worker Cara Wyatt works.
Her mum is a member of the Knit and Natter Group that meets at the All Tangled Up wool shop in Windsor Avenue, Grays.
Cara says: "I cheekily asked her if they wouldn't mind knitting a few blankets for such a great cause.
"The lovely ladies have kindly provided an astounding 62 blankets.
"I really can't thank them enough for their support and generosity.
"How amazing for these families to receive something that can add colour and warmth as a gift from a total stranger, someone they are likely to never know, just because it is a kind thing to do.
"As knitters they have a special gift and when they give their time, money and skill to such a special cause I hope they know how important they are."
Some members of the groupwere invited to Paddington by the hospital charity COSMIC for a tour of the unit.
