PUPIILS and staff at Stanford-le-Hope Primary School are celebrating after receiving a prestigious Silver Artsmark Award.

Artsmark a creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England. It supports them to develop and celebrate arts and cultural education across the whole curriculum, bringing learning to life for children and young people.

To achieve their Artsmark Award, pupils at Stanford had to develop their arts and cultural provision through an embedded and ambitious curriculum.

This was achieved by creating an overall plan that was committed to and delivered across the whole school. Mr Parker (Senior Teacher) led on this project across the school working with a range of staff.

Arts Council England wrote: "Children's experiences have been enhanced by engaging creative practitioners to offer performances and workshops in the Arts and using the Arts to support other learning, e.g. through drama in History.£

On receiving the award, headteacher Miss Lisa Glandfield, said: "We're extremely proud of achieving our Artsmark Silver Award.

"We are committed to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education and this is a recognition of the hard work that takes place at Stanford-le-Hope Primary School by staff to ensure that our children receive the best possible education.
