A SECURITY booth at Stanford Rail Station was destroyed by fire in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, 16 September).

The alwarm was raised shortly before 5am to the blaze, which happened on the eastbound side of the station.

A statement from Essex Fire and Rescue says: "Two crews were sent at 4.43am after reports of a small fire in a security hut. 

"Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and left the scene in the care of the security team at 5.07am.

"The cause has been recorded as accidental or deliberate - both are possibilities." 

A spokesperson for c2c said there was no disruption to services caused by the incident.
