Teenager charged with violent offences and held in prison

A PURFLEET teenager charged with robbery, possession of an offensive weapon and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm has been named.

He was arrested following a machete-wielding incident in Grays.

Kevin DaSilva, 18, of Botany Terrace, London Road, appeared before Chelmsford magistrates. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on 3 November.

He has been charged with:

  • Possession of a knife in a public place in Toronto Road, Tilbury, on 8 October 2025
  • Robbing a person of an electric scooter on 8 October 2025 in Tilbury
  • Threatening a person in Grays High Street, a public place, with a machete on 9 October 2025
  • Attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent
  • Possession of cannabis
