Teenager died in late night crash on Ship Lane

POLICE have now released some details of the fatal crash which claimed the life of a teenager yesterday, which contributed to some of the traffic congestion around Aveley and the A13 this morning.
Specialist officers are investigating a collision involving two vehicles – a blue Mini Cooper and a black Kia Picanto – in Ship Lane, close to the former Thurrock FC ground and the Thurrock Hotel at 11.05pm last night (Tuesday, 20 January).
A passenger in the Mini – an 18 year-old man – died at the scene.
The driver of the Mini – an 18 year-old man – and the driver of the Kia – a man in his 60s – were both taken to hospital having suffered serious injuries.
A police statement says: "The road was closed while officers investigated the incident and this closure impacted on the A13.
