THURROCK'S Thameside complex has been closed this evening because of a gas leak.

The building was evacuated earlier today.

A statement from Thurrock Council released this afternoon (Thursday, 9 March) says: "The complex has been closed because of a suspected gas leak.

"It will remain closed while the situation is investigated. Further updates will be provided in due course."

Tomorrow evening the theatre is due to stage an Elton John tribute evening and an event for local art contributors organised by Arts Outlet.
