Third building at sports site is under scrutiny

A THIRD building at Oakfield, the home of Thurrock Rugby Club in Blackshots, has come under scrutiny from borough council planning officers.
Over the past couple of years concern has been raised by local residents about a lack of action to enforce planning regulations on two buildings erected to provided temporary classrooms for Orsett Heath School.
Once should have become a sports academy after the school moved out, but became a bar and function room, while another – which should have been removed as it is in the green belt and was deemed an emergency measure - has been allowed to stay and will become a nursery.
The council has come under criticism from residential neighbours for being 'too accommodating' to the club's need, rather than enforcing planning rules.
Now a third building is in the spotlight.
A viewing platform has been created at the side of the club's new artificial pitch, without planning permission.
A complaint has been made to the council who now say they are investigating.
A statement to Nub News from the council says: "Thurrock Council are aware of this matter and our planning team is working with the appointed planning agents to seek a resolution."
