RECOVERING addicts and charity supporters are taking part in an event today (Saturday, 3 October) to raise awareness of the work in Thurrock of the Forward Trust.

The charity's Grays branch, based at the junction of Orsett Road and Milton Road in the town, has become a beacon of hope for many people, helping some to recover from addictions including alcohol, drugs or gambling and others leave criminal activity behind.

Riders get ready for a trip on the open road.

Today's event was organised by former long time addict and dedicated bike rider Joedi Whelpley, 33, from Ockendon, with the help of staff at the Trust including manager Angela Addison and her team.

In the video interview with Nub News below, she talks about how the charity helped her turn her l;ife around.

After tea, chat and refreshments at the offices in Grays, which are appropriately named 'Open Road', riders - including many people who have beneffitted from its services - took to the roads to ride to Bradwell-on-Sea.
