ACCORDING to the latest figures from the government's public health department – and despite a number of localised scares which included one borough school being closed for a day – Thurrock so far has no confirmed cases of Corona virus.

The government has committed to giving updated data with specific figures for local upper tier government levels, which includes Thurrock as it is a unitary authority.

In the first batch of figures, released today (Sunday, 8 March) Thurrock remains clear of confirmed cases. Essex has five, Southend has one and – across the river Thames – Kent has four. There are no cases in Havering, which also borders Thurrock.
