THURROCK Nub News is delighted to report that it has just passed through the 1,000,000 unique page views landmark.

Since launching in mid November last year, we have produced 1,794 stories, ranging from big news exclusives to the most local and insightful community news report.

We have visited schools, churches, local clubs and spent time with many of the borough's enterprising and innovative businesses. And pre-Covid we were on the ball with all our local sports clubs.

Since its launch just a couple of months ago our FREE local business listing services has attracted almost 150 posts from borough traders and companies. You can sign up today via this link.

And our sister Facebook page has more than signed up 2,200 followers – with more than 93,000 viewers watching our news report videos last month (May).

Our 'What's On' listings service is currently on hold pending further relaxation of the coronavirus rules but our jobs, classified and travel listings are all busy – Plus you can always check in for our up to date local weather forecast.

Site editor Neil Speight said: "Thurrock Nub News has quickly become the go-to place for Thurrock news and information. With other news media cutting back and withdrawing from the borough, pulling out reporters and staff, we will continue to work to bring you as much news as possible, from the streets of your communities and doorsteps to the phone in your pocket or your PC or laptop.

"And we have no intention of stopping. Currently I am looking to find a number of 'trusted correspondents' who will write directly about news, views and events in borough communities. People who feel they have something to say – or whose groups and organisations are making big contributions to our community and would like to get more publicity.

"It's a great opportunity for young people who are thinking about a career in journalism - or those who just like to write about what matters to them.

"Please use our unique Nubit button to send stories direct to our site – or email me at [email protected] and we can set you up as a local correspondent and offer all the support, supplies and any training you might need.

"Thurrock Nub news belongs to the local community – and the local community has a big role to play in its content. I look forward to hearing from you and you will keep hearing from us as we continue our free top class, informative and borough-based news service for you."
