IN recognition of the "exceptional services to young people" across Thurrock, Thurrock Scouts were recently inducted into the Mayoral Roll of Honour by Mayor James Halden.

A delegation of Section Leaders, District Team and other volunteers from across the District were invited to the Mayor's Chamber at the Civic Offices in Grays on Thursday, 25 August for a private reception with the Mayor.

The District was officially inducted with the presentation of a Certificate of Achievement from the Mayor to District Chair Geoff Harris, who accepted the certificate on behalf of more than 600 volunteers.

A statement from the district sais: "It is a huge privilege to receive this honour as it recognises the thousands of hours our volunteers dedicate each year to supporting and developing young people across Thurrock."

District Commissioner Graham Monk was also surprised to find out he was also being inducted for his long service to Scouting.
