THE body of a man found in the Port of Tilbury has been identified.

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Essex Coroner's Court in Chelmsford after the discovery of the body, which has severe and multiple injuries, on Friday, 21 February.

The inquest heard the body was that of Stephen Coatsworth, 63, from Harlow.

Police are treating it as non-suspicious.

A spokesman for Port of Tilbury said: "On 21 February, the Port of Tilbury police were alerted to a body that was found on the foreshore near the port.

"The police assisted in the recovery of the body. This is a sad situation and we will continue to support in anyway."
