HUNDREDS of residents packed around Civic Square in Tilbury this evening (Friday, 2 December) to enjoy the town's annual Christmas lights switch on.

The event, which included a funfair with several large rides and stalls, the arrival of Father Christmas on an Ensign vintage bus before he took up residence in his grotto, performances by many local youngsters and a variety of food stalls, was organised by the Tilbury Roverside Project and support by donations from local companies, including principal sponsor Tevva.

Thurrock Nub news was on hand to record the event.
