WARD councillors are set to join angry residents in stating their objection to a new homes plan in Grays, due to be debated by Thurrock Council's planning committee on Thursday (9 January).

As exclusively reported on Thurrock Nub News last week (see story via red button below), planning officers are recommending approval of the plan for eight new homes.

However, Cllr Martin Kerin says he and ward colleagues Jane Potchecary and Tony fish are 'implacably opposed' to the development.

He says: "We have been working with the residents of Badgers Dene on opposing it and working with the local Thameside Community Forum in formulating our response.

"This development is out of keeping with Badgers Dene and terrible for the environment.

"It is time for the council to listen to its residents and work with the community on developments which are sustainable and in keeping with the neighbourhood."
