A SUPPORT teacher at Treetops school in Grays has been honoured by his colleagues with a top award.

Every year teaching union Unison organises the 'Stars in our School' awards.

Several Thurrock schools have taken part this year, with special individual days being hosted to promote the fantastic work the support workers in schools provide all year round to the local children.

Staff, parents and pupils have been voting over the course of November to nominate the member of staff who they feel have made an impact on the provision of care and dedication to their school.

The votes have been collated by the schools team at the Thurrock branch of UNISON, where a winner was chosen from Treetops School, Grays.

Today (Friday, 29 November) Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr Terry Piccolo presented teaching assistant Aaron Mayo, with his prizes and award during the school assembly.

Head Jonathan Brewer also presented with an award for being the employer of the Thurrock Star in our School 2019.
