SATURDAY'S town centre carnival of stalls and activities in Corringham organised by Morrisosn store community champion Samantha Ralph and her colleagues raised £570 for the Young Lives vs Cancer (formerly CLIC Sargent).

The event featured many stall run by local people and organisations and here were performances by the Sutherland Pipes & Drums, music and entertainment provided by DJ Steve Henderson, Perry Entertainment and Kaleo Music Studios.

Among the visitors was borough mayor Cllr Sue Shinnick who took the opportunity to pelt local ward councillor Shane Ralph with wet sponges when he was in the stocks!

Samantha said afterwards: "It was a great success. Thank-you to the wonderful people of SS17 who came and supported the whole event. Thank-you you all for being there for me today.
