A WINTER festival will take place in Corringham this weekend, incorporating the switch on of the town's Christmas lights.

The event in the town centre will run on Saturday, 27 November, from 10am until 4pm.

It will include around 24 stalls, including three food outlets, spread around the Grover Walk shopping parade and St John's Way. Proceeds from stall hire will be donated to the 'Young Lives v Cancer' charity.

Santa and his sleigh will be there from 9am to 1pm and Arthur Bugler Primary Choir will be singing at around 10am.

One of the event organisers is Morrisons store community champion Samantha Ralph who added: "The Give-A-Can appeal will also be there for you to donate, in support of Thurrock Food Bank.

"Rebecca Gower is our facepainter for the day too. Stollercise will be there with two slots at around 11.30am and 12.30pm.

"We will have entertainment all day from Haydon Perry Entertainment with DJ Steve Henderson.

The Sutherland Pipes and Drums will also be coming along at about 11am. "Ruti (from The Voice) will also be making an appearance and singing for us and will be switching on our Christmas Lights too. Please come along and support your local community."
