Up close and personal. Dementia care training facility is named after much-loved Valerie

A CELEBRATION event marked the continuing progress of a borough care agency.
Pineapple Care is based in the grounds of Orsett Hall Hotel, where its offices and a training suite are located,
Recently the training suite based in Orsett Hall, became a dementia training suite, named in memory of an aunt of the company's Managing Director, Lavena Babbs.
Borough mayor Cllr Kairen Raper and her immediate predecessor Sue Little were in attendance along with councilors and care professionals.
Both mayor and ex-mayor shared the task of cutting the ribbon for the newly-named Valerie Oakley Dementia Training Suite.
Lavena said: "Auntie Valerie was a loving mum, grandmother and auntie who gave her time to the local church until she became another victim of dementia. It's a privilege to honour her memory by naming the training suite after her."
