POLICE have given an update on a fly-tipping investigation, reported yesterday (Thursday, 3 April) on Thurock Nub News.

We told how a fly-tipping operation on land between the A1013 and A13 between Stanford and Orsett Cock roundabout had been halted by police intervention and a man arrested.

However, little information was forthcoming from the police or Thurrock Council, though police officers did post a 'humorous' article on Facebook.

Today Essex Police have been a little more serious about the incident, saying: "The arrested man is 41 and from Chatham in Kent.

"He was arrested on suspicion of causing the deposit from a motor vehicle of controlled waste in or on land without a permit and conspiring to deposit controlled waste without an environmental permit controlled or extractive waste in or on land.

"He has since been released under investigation."

Thurrock Council are also understood to be investigating the site and what has been happening there.
