Vanessa was on the ball with youngsters in latest park event

A SECOND session of activities with youngsters led by author and storyteller Venessa Taylor took place in Grays Town Park today (Monday, 15 August).

She was in the borough as part of the Riverside Local Book Bonanza. Events have taken place throughout August and three more are still to come, starting next Friday.

Today Vanessa, a former inner-city primary school teacher and assistant headteacher, who has written the 'Baller Boys' series of books. spoke to young people about her work and encouraged them to engage in creative reading and writing.

She told Thurrock Nub News that her time in Grays has been 'absolutely lovely' and speaking about the reasons for her visit added: "I can't think of anything more important than reading but love. All children need to read and love to read."

The next event in the series of activities is on Friday (19 August) when author Jemma Hatt, best known for 'The Adventurers' series returns to Grays for a free workshop with youngsters at the Elm Road Open Space.
