A RECENTLY-launched eating venue in Stanford-le-Hope has announced that it is having to close and it will be serving its final meals this week.

A surge of optimism greeted the lauch of the foyer restaurant at the Old Regent Ballroom in Stanford-le-Hope but while the main venue and cocktail will continue, its owners have called time on the eatery.

A statement published locally says: "Hello friends. The foyer restaurant - but just the restaurant - at The Old Regent Ballroom is closing next Thursday, 28 April.

"The cocktail bar will remain open and afternoon teas will still be able to be booked. Please follow the Facebook page for all updates."

Earlier this year Nub News popped in to the Old Regent Ballroom and highlighted its event facilites - all of which contiue.

Indeed there is a book launch taking place there this week.
