RESIDENTS and visitors to rural parts of Thurrock have been watching work carried out by contractors employed by National Highways ahead of the planned Lower Thames Crossing.

Huge swathes of land have already been devoured by works, despite the fact that funding for the ten billion pound project has not been confirmed.

National Highway community engagement team has issued a video newsletter which concentrates on:-

  • Early work starting, with site compounds being set up, archaeological digs underway, and starting ground investigations and utility diversions
  • Community events and plans to run more later this year
  • The progress made on creating new green space and how hydrogen is being used to replace diesel
  • The possibility of creating thousands of jobs
  • Opportunities for local businesses
  • Community Fund grants of up to £10,000 for projects that support wellbeing and strengthen community connections
