VIDEO footage has emerged of the moment that a grain silo at the Port of Tilbury exploded this morning.

The footage shows the scale of the explosion in the silo which is right alongside the river Thames.

The blast was heard across Grays and prompted emergency crews of firefighters, ambulances and police - as well as an air ambulance to rush to the port.

Fortunately, despite the magnitude of the blast, no one was hurt, though one person was later taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

Thurrock Nub News reported from the scene and an update report is here.
