PLANNING officers have rejected a bid to build a new home on a lot adjacent to an existing dwelling in Bulphan.

The proposed development adjacent to 2 Manor Cottages on Church Road in Bulphan would have involved the demolition of and existing garage erection of a two storey dwelling with three bedrooms.

Officers have decided the proposed development would represent 'inappropriate development' in the green belt and have an unacceptable effect on its openness. They added: "The introduction of a two storey detached dwelling in this location would be at odds with the established pattern of development and cause a loss of spaciousness between dwellings that would be substantially more harmful to the character and appearance of the site and the locality that the existing and approved developments in this location. The development would appear as an incongruous and discordant feature of the street scene."

The full report on the application and officer recommendation to refuse can be found via this link.
