RESIDENTS in Bulphan will be among those commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day this week - with a breakfast proclamation and a beacon lighting on Thursday (6 June).

The D-Day 80 proclamation will be made by Town Crier Dave Gulvin outside the Village Hall at 8am. He will have a splendid bell to announce the speech and will be dressed appropriately.

Breakfast will be served in the village hall from 8 to 8.30am.

Focus will be on the village hall throughout the day when visitors can enjoy fish and chips (it's National Fish and Chips Day).

The fish van will be outside the hall from noon until 9pm and the hall will be open so you can to enjoy your food in comfort. The cafe will also be open, serving hot and cold drinks, cakes etc.

Live streaming of D-Day ceremonies will be screened in the hall from 8pm and at 9.15pm the village's own beacon will be lit (preceded by Jo the Piper playing her bagpipes).

The cafe and licensed bar open.
