Warning after bonfire spreads and damages building

A WARNING has been issued by Essex Fire and Rescue Service after a bonfire spread to an outbuilding in Fobbing.
Crews from Corringham, Grays, Basildon and Canvey attended the incident at Hertford Drive on Tuesday (5 August) at 4.50pm after an alarm was raised.
Station Manager Steve Kirkham said: "A small bonfire spread to a log pile consisting of around six tonnes of wood and an outbuilding.

"Crews brought the fire under control, stopped it spreading and extinguished it in just over an hour, and remained at the scene into the evening to dampen down.
"The incident is a reminder to take extra care if you are having a bonfire, particularly in dry and windy conditions.
"Make sure you set it well away from anything that might catch alight."
