OUR weekly preview of 'What's On in Thurrock' picks out a selection of events hosted on our events guide.

The focal point this coming weekend is on a number of VE events that will be taking place, but there's plenty more going on across the borough.

Friday evening brings a high-flying spectacle to the Essex Wildlife Trust's Thameside park at Mucking.

Barleylands Birds of Prey Academy will present their their informative and fun show, giving you the opportunity to be up close and personal with magnificent birds.

And there may be some high notes at the Thameside Theatre on Friday where Thames Opera Company are putting on a concert.

Members of the company were drawn from a very diverse range of people from all walks of life, from complete novices to experienced performers. And with a selection og gusts a great night is promised.

Sunday brings an opportunity to try out your sporting hand.

Thurrock Bowls Club will be hosting an event, offering local people the opportunity to try out the spoprt.

The club is based at the Blackshots Leisure Complex in Grays and the event will run from 12 noon to 4pm.

A family fun day and fundraiser for Thurrock Gymnastics academy will take place at Tyrells Hall Club in Little Thurrock on Sunday from 12 noon to 4.30pm.

It will feature a bouncy castle, face-painting and lots more activities.
