HASSENBROOK Academy's Creative Arts department entered a group of 19 students from years seven to 11 into the Jack Petchey Glee competition and they have won through two rounds to reach the final that will take place at the O2 Arena in April.

After winning through the first round the students stepped back on stage for Sunday's regional final and were again successful.

Head Sally Feeney says: "We are absolutely delighted as the other competitors were largely older – sixth formers – and there were also several performing arts schools competing.

"We are the only Thurrock school in the final, and both the pupils and staff are buzzing."
