A CALL has gone out to youngsters and their families in the Orsett area to see if there is a demand for the creation of a new scouting group.

Whitmore Hall and The Churches Centre in the village plays host to a number of groups that offer scouting experiences for children from six to 18 years-old.

The Scout Association has just announced the opportunity for groups to start and run a new section called Squirrels. These will be for youngsters aged four to five.

Group scout leader Bob Murphy says: "What we would like to know is are there many parents of children within this age range that would be interested in them attending the group, and importantly we would also be looking for volunteers to become leaders to run the section.

"This link gives an indication of what the youngsters will get up to.

"If you have a child of that age and would be interested in them attending Squirrels please let us know by email [email protected]

"Also if you would be interested in supporting this new section or one of the others please do contact us, the opportunities are endless with the ability to share skills you may already have and learn new ones within the very well run scout leader training program."
