Woman attacked and bag stolen in Chafford Hundred incident

POLICE are looking to speak to further witnesses after a woman was assaulted and her bag was stolen.

A 20-year-old man was arrested following the incident in Howard Road, Chafford Hundred, shortly before 5am on Tuesday, 4 May.

The 24-year-old woman was pushed to the ground and suffered large cuts to head, which required hospital treatment.

Officers carried out a search and arrested a man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

He was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.

He has been released on bail until 29 May while police continue their enquiries.

Anyone who was in the Howard Road area at the time and saw what happened or has any dash cam or CCTV footage is asked to contact Grays CID quoting reference 42/82902/21.
