Work has begun on the site of the new centre.

CORRINGHAM residents, staff and parents from Graham James Academy and councillors recently participated in a virtual public engagement event held by the NHS, Thurrock Council and the voluntary sector to hear all about the plans for the new Corringham Integrated Medical Centre (IMC).

The new centre, which is owned by NELFT* and is being built by Neilcott Construction on the Sorrells, has now started building works and is due to open in spring 2022.

This will be the first IMC to be built in Thurrock and is the start of a programme to transform health, social and community services in the area with the creation of four new centres for local people.

All the information presented at the engagement event is available on the Better Care Together Thurrock website, along with more details on the transformation programme and what services Corringham IMC will provide. You can access it via this link.

In addition, all the questions asked by the community before, during and after the event will be available on the website very soon, and include answers on the safety measures of the building programme, efforts being taken to reduce the impact on the local community, and traffic and parking.

The Better Care Together Thurrock partnership want the local community to be fully involved with this new medical centre and will be hosting more events in the next year.

If you would like to get in touch with the team behind the centre, email [email protected] or visit www.bettercaretogetherthurrock.org for more information.
