MOTORISTS have been warned of travel disruption this morning (Wednesday, 3 March) because of fog.

A yellow weather warning has been issued across the east of England including south Essex and the Thames.

A statement issued at 1.53am by the Met Office says: "Generally very misty this morning with some thick patches of fog reducing the visibility to 100 m or less in places.

"Expect slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible. There is a chance of delays or cancellations to flights."

The Tilbury to Gravesend ferry service was suspended at 5am with the operators saying: "Due to dense fog in the Thames reach the ferry is suspended until visibility improves."
