A NEW retail outlet at the Lakeside shopping centre due to open next month will be a UK first and will bring a taste of summer to the borough say its operators.

Ice cream and frozen yogurt brand Yolé is bringing the Spanish flavours to the UK this July with a branch in Lakeside.

Opening on 6 July the store will be situated on level 2 of Lakeside and will serve up its menu from 11am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 5pm Sunday.

It's estimated that 25 new jobs will be created by this new branch.

A spokesperson for the company said: "This is another step in the global expansion of Yolé which will soon include more stores across Europe, America and Asia.

"The brand already has a strong presence in Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Spain, Portugal and Taiwan and in more than 600 supermarkets around Asia.

"This year, due to travel restrictions, tens of millions will miss out on their foreign holidays. However, everyone can now enjoy a taste of Spanish sunshine at our Yolé stores in the UK.

"We wanted to compete with the flavour leaders without all the sugar that conventional ice creams add. An ice cream and frozen yogurt, that when you try it, you will not know it is low in calories."
