THREE councillors from Grays have brushed aside assurances from Thurrock Council following concerns that tower blocks in their ward may be blighted by asbestos.

Thurrock Nub News reported yesterday on how an anonymous leaflet had been distributed to residents in the local flats, particularly at Davall House, alleging the council has discovered bitumen asbestos in flooring at the flats.

A THURROCK man has spoken up about how a piece of smart technology has changed his life.

He is one of more than 200 patients from Basildon, Southend and Broomfield hospitals - which now form the Trust after they were merged in April last year – who are already seeing the benefits of the home testing kit which runs on a smartphone.

WHILE negotiations are ongoing about the make-up of a proposed extension to a new homes development in South Ockendon, its builders have been highlighting demand for smaller apartments rather than family homes that they initially planned to build on the site.

Matters came to a head at a recent meeting of Thurrock Council's planning committee where a number of councillors wanted to reject an application to change the make-up of the latest development of the former Fords factory.

AN important link road through Thurrock is likely to remain closed for at least another day as gas engineers deal with what one of them described as 'a very bad leak'.

The leak was discovered yesterday (Wednesday, 3 February) when nearby premises and flats adjacent to the junction of Dock Road with Wood Street were temporarily evacuated because the gas was filtering into the buildings.
