IN the wake of Thurrock Nub News' report on alleged unsafe working conditions at Thurrock Council's Oliver Close environmental depot, a worker there has come out to rubbish council claims that everything there is OK.

TRIBUTES have been paid by members of Thurrock's motorcycling fraternity to a West Tilbury man who died in a crash at Bulphan earlier this week.

Brian Richardson, known to his many friends as 'Dinks', was killed after his motorbike was involved in a collision on the A128 at the junction with the old Brentwood Road adjacent to Ye Olde Plough hotel near Bulphan early on Monday evening.

The festive celebrations were combined with Acorns' 25th anniversary.

AFTER ending the year by celebrating its silver anniversary, a borough pre-school says it is looking forward to the new year with optimism, even though it will start under the strictest of conditions.

Acorns pre-school operates from the Scouts Hall in Waterstone Road, Chadwell St Mary, where it can look after up to 26 children per session and was looking to end the year with big celebrations to mark its 25th anniversary.

The charity's warehouse at the Thurrock Christian Fellowship, 2-4 Chase Road, Corringham is packed with gifts and donations that arrived in the pre-Christmas period, prompting business co-ordinator and volunteer Sandra Sawle to issue a heartfelt year-ending message of thanks.

A POLICE dog proved more than capable of stopping two car thieves in their tracks as they tried to flee a stolen vehicle.

Essex police dog Carter was called into action after officers spotted the stolen car in Thurrock yesterday (30 December). The driver initially failed to stop but then abandoned the car. They were intending to run off but decided not to when confronted by Carter.
