THERE are significant delays at the southbound Dartford Crossing following an incident this morning.

The QEII bridge was closed at one point and currently there are just two lanes open due to a police investigation. It is now expected that the bridge will not full reopen until around noon.

PLANS have been submitted to Thurrock Council asking for permission to demolish a bungalow on a busy and often congested Thurrock road so the space can be used as an access to seven new 'age-restricted' homes to be built behind it.

The bungalow to be demolished is at 63 Wharf Road, Stanford-le-Hope, just a few yards opposite its junction with Cabborns Crescent.

THE green light has been given to a housing development that will bring 153 new homes to Stanford-le-Hope despite concerns about traffic problems and accessibility for emergency vehicles.

Outline planning permission for the scheme off Victoria Road was given several years ago and last night's Thurrock Council planning committee had to consider the detailed plans.

A CONTROVERSIAL planning application due to be considered at Thurock Council's planning committee last night (Thursday, 13 August) was pulled from the agenda at the 11th hour.

Councillors were due to debate the site called 'Tremorgan' at the end of Sandown Road near Orsett but committee chair Cllr Tom Kelly told members the applicants had asked for the matter to be deferred.
