DESPITE some initial confusion, Thurrock Council has now identified 27 borough-based projects as it seeks to spend the first instalment of more than £1.4 million it was allocated by the government in a bid to improve footpaths and cycleways in the borough.

Last month Thurrock Nub News reported on a commitment by Transport secretary Grant Shapps to give Thurrock £1,438,000 to invest on local schemes to help regenerate local economies and make roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

CONTROVERSIAL double yellow lines on a residential road are to be removed – but it has come too late for some householders who have already been targeted by council enforcement officers.

Residents in Hadfield Road in Stanford-le-Hope have been upset since new permit parking restrictions, a one way system and yellow lines were imposed on them with little of no consultation.

A DIRECTOR of Thurrock-based Ensign Buses has spoken of his pride in the company and expressed gratitude to its supporters all over the country who followed and supported it in a national competition.

Ensign just missed out on the top prize in the British World Cup of buses, a customer and fan-led competition whereby bus companies across the country polled votes in head-to-head 'competition' with other bus companies.
