A MAN was been taken to hospital with injuries that left him in a life-threatening condition, following a road traffic collision on a rural road to the north of Thurrock.

Police were called around 6.45pm yesterday evening (Monday 27 July) after the alert was raised when an Audi S5 and a Volkswagen Golf were in a collision on St Mary's Lane near West Horndon.

NURSING and care staff at Basildon & Thurrock Hospital are planning to hold a protest march from the hospital to Basildon town centre where they will hold a rally to highlight their disappointment at not receiving an additional pay increase.

Participants in the march are invited to leave a flower at the hospital in tribute to the 540 health workers who lost their lives during the pandemic.

THURROCK's town centre policing team has reported on the success of a seven hour operation in Grays when they hit the streets to tackle anti-social behavior and knife crime.

The team used officers in uniform and a number of plain clothes officers who worked throughout the evening of Friday, 24 July.

A FURTHER delay in completing the access road to a new rural housing development in Thurrock is being sought by the builders.

They are seeking a further 18 months after the first building is occupied to allow them to complete the road to the five houses on Tremorgan off Sandown Road in Orsett. The site has seen a number of applications and changes since development was first mooted.

FROM next week (Monday 3, August) many cafes and restaurants in Thurrock will be looking to get a boost in trade thanks to the government's 'Eat Out to Help Out Scheme'.

By offering discounts of food and non alcoholic drinks it's hoped the scheme will provide a boost to the struggling hospitality industry, now that the national lockdown is easing. The venue will deduct the money off the bill and claim it back from the government.
