Aveley 3, Chelmsford City 1

UNDERDOGS Aveley produced another shock to overcome Essex rivals Chelmsford and reach the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy on a historic day for the Thurrock club.

In front of a crowd of 811 the Millers took the lead on 12 minutes when Jason Raad netted.

Millers held on to that precious lead until Chris Whelpdale put the Clarets on level terms with ten minutes to go.

Undaunted, Aveley held their own and Alex Akrofi scored to put them ahead with two minutes to go.

As the game drifted into added time Aveley fans were holding their breath but nerves were finally settled when John Nzengi crashed home a long range shot to secure victory.
