No wins but Tilbury will be best pleased

THERE was disappointment all round as none of the borough's non-League sides managed a win today ( Saturday, 4 December) - though Tilbury will have ended the afternoon happiest, coming from two down to draw with Grays.

The Isthmian North derby was played out in front of a crowd of 302 at Parkside, who saw a David Knight penalty on 25 minutes and Aaron Gordon's goal just before half time put the Blues in the driving seat.

But hopes of a home win ended in the second half as Lee Noble pulled one back for the Dockers and Roman Campbell scored the equaliser from the spot on 73 minutes.

In the same division Aveley travelled to Stowmarket and lost to a last minute goal despite dominating much of the match.

Evan Collard gave the hosts a 42nd minute lead but the Millers looked to have secured at least point through George Sykes' goal just before the hour.

And most observers thought the visitors were the likely winners, hitting the woodwork twice through Jon Benton and going close several times.

Aveley introduced new signing from Tilbury, Billy Crook, with seven minutes to go but he found himself on the losing side thanks to Tom Bullard's last minute winner for Town.

In the Isthmian Premier East Thurrock United went down 2-0 at home to near neighbours Bowers and Pitsea.

Two goals in five minutes midway through the first half proved decisive in the derby at Rookery Hill.

They both came from Bowers and Pitsea's Daniel Trendall whose only derby disappointment was the dismissal of sub Benjamin Sartain two minutes from time.
