SATURDAY (24 July) saw Belhus CC 1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs win. It was not quite a Belhus 'Grand Slam' as the 4th XI and 5th XI came up short but still nonetheless it was a good day for the club and supporters. With 12 league matches now played, teams are now two thirds of the way through the season.

Belhus CC 1st XI hosted Hadleigh & Thundersley CC at North Stifford in the Essex Premier league. Hadleigh batted first but Belhus CC 1st XI Bowlers were in fine form, restricting the visitors to 142 runs with three Hadleigh wickets apiece for Sahan Nanayakkara and Shane Barwick and a further two wickets apiece for Dan Norris and Max Osborne.

Belhus CC 1st XI opening batsman, Md Animul Islam Shihan set about the visitors with 67 runs, with other major contributions to the 143 run chase coming from Joe Joyce, 34 runs and Shane Barwick 28, not out.

This Essex premier league victory for the Belhus CC 1st XI puts them in good spirits for their away trip to Wanstead and Snaresbrook on Saturday 31st July.

Belhus CC 2nd XI travelled away to Hadleigh and the 2nd XI had arguably the best team performance of the day. Belhus CC 2nd XI batted first and scored 197 runs. Roy Heffernan 53 runs, Jack Plane 36 runs, Wayne Read 34 runs and Gus Philpot 28 runs, meant that the Belhus CC 2nd XI bowlers and fielders had a decent score to defend.

Belhus CC 2nd XI were very lively in the field and young bowlers Philpot four wickets, Millard five wickets ('5for') and Waters remaining one wicket. Hadleigh & Thundersley CC could only manage 133 runs in response.

Belhus CC 3rd XI claimed a very important win against Upminster. Some fine bowling from Ashir Saleem five wickets ('5for') and Braydon Scarlett four wickets meant that the visitors were held to 159 runs.

In response, Belhus CC youngster Lewis Blake batted an impressive 59 runs and was ably assisted by Imran Mohammed with 48 runs and Ashir Saleem with 29 runs. Other Belhus CC 3rd XI batting contributions took the run total to the winning target of 160 with two wickets to spare.
