DESPITE the issues of social distancing, Thurrock paid a moving farewell this week to two much-loved local publicans.

Residents in Orsett and Stanford-le-Hope stood respectfully in the streets as the funeral corteges of Margaret Orman from the Whitmore arms in Orsett and Gino Renoldi of the railway Tavern in Stanford left the respective pubs.

Because of the restrictions imposed by lockdown the services were unable to accommodate the many people who would have wished to attend – though thousands of tributes have already been paid to them both via social media.

However, sadly there have been and will be many more funerals across the area where people may not have the platform to pay their respects and share memories as they might do at a normal funeral.

So Thurrock Nub News has created a 'Tributes' platform on our site where you can upload your messages and tribute and pictures that you might wish to share. The service is totally free and will run on our site throughout the lockdown period.

Simply visit the upload page by clicking here, click on category icon and select 'Tributes' and follow the upload instructions. We will then moderate and upload your tribute and memories as quickly as possible.
