EAST Thurrock United Football Club has paid tribute to one of its popular and long-serving supporters who has passed away.

A statement on the club's website details the death of Kenny Timmings yesterday (Monday, 4 January).

It says: "Kenny "The Crane" was a long time club member, a regular in the Rocks Bar since we first opened at Rookery Hill back in 1984.

"He was without doubt a true "character", and a big part of our club.

"Although by no means a regular at our matches, Ken was a big supporter of the football side of the club, and over the years helped us in so many different ways.

"At this desperate time, our thoughts, condolences and sympathies are very much with Jeanette, Melanie, Scott, Toby, Ken's grandchildren and his many, many friends.

"There's one corner of the Rocks Bar that will be forever 'Timmo's Corner'."
