Aveley chairman steps down after 23 years at club

AVELEY FC chairman, Graham Gennings has announced he is to step aside after 23 years at the club.
Speaking on Monday (21 April), Mr Gennings said: "I have seen many highs and lows in my time as my time as chairman and have been privileged to have helped our club grow considerably over many years.
"I feel it is time for me to return to what I have always enjoyed, being a supporter of this wonderful football club.
"Craig Johnson will take over the title from me and I know he and our other Directors will continue to put their heart and soul into every waking hour for the club."
Mr Johnson, currently the club's CEO, added: "I knew this day would come eventually, and to be honest when I asked Graham 23 years ago, 'would he be Chairman', I never dreamt we would have made so many memories together both on and off the pitch, and that it would have lasted more than most marriages these days!
"When Graham told me of his intentions, I felt it only fitting that he should be offered the current vacant club president role, to which I am personally delighted he has accepted.
"Moving forward, I am pleased to say that Danny Shipp will take up a board director position, responsible for safeguarding and youth development."
