Aveley 2, Dagenham & Redbridge 0
AVELEY knocked out match favourites Dagenham & Redbridge from the National League Premier in the BBC Essex Senior Cup fourth round with a convincing performance at Parkside on Monday evening (15 January).
This is the second cup competition Millers have progressed in by beating top non-League flight opposition over the last few days after beating AFC Fylde in the FA Trophy on Saturday (13 January).
Aveley took the lead through Alex Hernandez in the 32nd minute. Joe Gbode beat his man and passed through to Hernandez who cooly slotted past the goalkeeper.
However, bad news was to follow for Millers as Hernandez was replaced by Nana Kyei just seven minutes after his goal due to an injury.
But the hosts reached the half time break with a deserved lead in front of 369 spectators.
Aveley doubled their lead in the 63rd minute through debutant Razzaq Coleman De-Graft. He pounced on a Dagenham mistake and fired into the bottom left corner to seal a place in the quarer-final where they will be away to Isthmian Premier Hashtag United.
Aveley stay at Parkside this coming Saturday (20 January) as they play Chippenham Town in the Vanarama National League South. Chippenham are 17th in the league and have only won one of their last five games.
