Cambridge City 2, Grays Athletic 1

GRAYS dropped to eighth in the Isthmian North after Saturday's (14 December) defeat at Sawston.

George Smith opened the scoring for the hosts after just nine minutes and City were able to take a two goal lead into the break thanks to Alex Warman's 35th minute effort.

Blues got back into the match seven minutes into the second half when City keeper James Philp failed to deal with a deep cross and Alejandro rose at the far post to head the ball home from close range.

However, that was to prove to be Grays' swansong in a match that featured eight yellow cards issued by ref Zachary Cunningham, six of them for the home side.

Grays are back in action next weekend when Walthamstow visit Chadfields.
