TILBURY cruised to the top of the Essex Senior League and extended their unbeaten run to 16 matches with a convincing win at the EMR Stadium on Tuesday (7 November) evening.

Dockers quickly established supremacy and centre-half Jack Hayes showed his attacking strength as he rose to head home Macauley Joynes' corner after just six minutes.

The home side were well in control of the match and it came as little surprise when the lead was extended on 18 minutes when a fine driving run from Alex Clark ended when he delivered the ball to Roman Campbell, who produced the finish to extend his recent personal scoring run.

And things got even better moments before the break when Dan Trendall got on the end of another cross and finished it off expertly.

With the game virtually done and dusted on a cold night in front of 125 supporters it was perhaps no surprise the tempo eased a little in the second half, though Dockers still controlled the match.

They were able to make a number of substitutions that showed the strength of the squad and it was one of those replacements, Igli Metalia, who won the ball in the 77th minute and teed up Campbell for his second of a great night for the Dockers.

Tilbury will put thoughts of league success aside on Saturday when they play host to Tring Athletic from the Spartan South Midlands Football League in the FA Vase (3pm).
