TILBURY's reward for Saturday's Isuzu FA Trophy First Round win against Hadley is the short trip to face National League South Dagenham & Redbridge, Today's (Monday, 27 October) draw, marked Dockers' return to the Second Round after 43 years.
In recent seasons the former Football League Daggers have struggled and currently sit 17th in the table, with just three wins from 14 matches, two of which came at their Victoria Road ground, where they have also lost four times.
They secured promotion into the Football League after winning the Conference title in the 2006–07 season. They then moved up from League Two after winning the 2010 play-off final, though were relegated the next season after finishing 21st in League One. Dagenham were relegated back into non-League football in 2016. They and suffered a further relegation to the National League South last season.
In the close season Dagenham made the eye-catching signing of Andy Carroll, whose career includes spells at Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham United as well as nine England international appearances. He's played just five times for Daggers, scoring once - the winner in Saturday's (single goal success at Chippenham).
He missed the start of the season with a hamstring injury and was then sent off on his full debut in the FA Cup second qualifying round at Bedford, where Daggers drew and won the replay.
Carroll is also a minority sharegholder in Dagenham & Redbridge.
Tilbury's trip to Victoria Road will be on Saturday, 15 November when the winners will net £3,750 and losers the consolation of £1,000.
Before that, Tilbury will get another cup chance against National League opposition, when they host Braintree Town in The Essex Senior Cup tomorrow (Tuesday, 28 October),. The iron sit fourth from bottom in the National league premier.
