DOCKERS stretched their unbeaten run into a third month and 15 matches with this hard-fought win at the EMR Stadium on Saturday that elevated the team to second spot in the Essex Senior League.

Victory took the unbeaten run to 15 matches and Tilbury will have a chance to extend it on Tuesday when 12th placed Little Oakley visit on Tuesday (7 November).

That Saturday's match went ahead was a tribute to the work of the club's committee and particularly head groundsman John Nash.

Their endeavours were rewarded after just nine minutes when a surging run from Dan Trendall set up an opportunity for Harry Donovan and though he was at long range and under pressure from two defenders, he engineered the space to strike the ball powerfully into the net.

Trendall almost doubled the Dockers' tally soon after with a rocket shot that cannoned off the woodwork but the action dissipated from that point and there was little drama at either end going in to the break.

And the tempo didn't really rise on the restart with Dockers somewhat subdued and that handed the initiative to the visitors, particularly in the later stages of the match, but in the end Donovan's strike was enough to separate the sides and keep the amazing Tilbury run going.
