Hullbridge 0, Tilbury 2

AFTER a cagey first half when there was little to separate two of the form teams in the Essex Senior League when they met on Saturday (28 October), Tilbury exerted their authority in the second stanza to grab a win which moved them to fourth spot and maintained a fabulous unbeaten run that stretches over two months.

Dockers gave a first start to new signing Ben Wyss which helped balance the loss of a couple of holidaying players and the suspension of Jack Hayes.

The sides were finely matched though Hullbridge probably enjoyed the better of the chances, most notably when an angled effort from Soloman Ofori came back off the woodwork.

Tilbury keeper Christian North was the busier of the goalline custodians but he turned in an extremely solid performance to ensure his team went into the break on level terms

On the restart it was clear Tilbury had upped the gears a level and they held the initiative, albeit they were grateful once more to the woodwork that denied Bruno Tavares a goal.

Dockers also hit the frame of the goal Harvey Browne's shot cannoned back into play but the pressure told when Browne was felled in the box and Roman Campbell opened the scoring from the subsequent penalty.

And in the closing stages Campbell double his tally to ensure the win.

Dockers are in midweek action on Tuesday (31 October) when they travel to Walthamstow in the Thamesside Trophy.
